Nure Onna

The literal translation is Wet Woman.

these Yokai are essentially vampire sea serpents. They inhabit coastal areas either by seas, lakes or rivers. They appear having the lower body of snakes but from belly up they are nude women with black hair and are carrying a bundle that is presumably a baby. They have serpent features such as a forked tongue and sharp teeth. They are always wet with their hair sticking to their bodies.

These Yokai catch their prey by pretending to be distressed women holding a bundled baby. When someone approaches they plead for them to hold her baby so she can rest. Once they have her “baby” which is actually a very heavy stone, they are frozen and she is able to attack. She kills her victims by draining their blood.
