Kichijoten/ Kisshoten

One of the seven gods of fortune. Kisshoten is considered the Goddess of Happiness, Fertility and Beauty. Kichijoten is an arbiter of happiness, granting fortune, beauty and fertility. She is often perceived to be worshipped primarily by women as her domains are mostly feminine. She has the same domain in Hindu as Lakshmi and is similar to the Greek goddess Aphrodite and Roman Venus.

In appearance she wears an embroidered gown, elaborate head dress, has crescent shaped eyebrows and full cheeks. She holds in her left hand the “wish-granting jewel” Nyoi Houju and with her right she makes the gesture (Mudra) of charity with her palm open and facing downward. She is depicted as a beautiful woman of high stature.
