Meaning: Fidelity, Long Life, Loyalty, Success, Gracefulness, Royalty, Family, Good Fortune

One of the main meanings of the Crane Tattoo revolves around their mating ritual and fidelity. The Crane Tattoo is often thought to be a symbol of a successful and loyal marriage.

It is also a long living species and so represents longevity and good health as well. It is also symbolic because it can fly to great heights. Some species even fly over the Himalayas up to 26,000 feet during their migration. The crane also represents the heavens as it was believed they carried the deceased home to heaven. In ancient China the crane was used to symbolize the highest ranking people of the time.

In Japan, Cranes are referred to as the bird of happiness. They are known for their grace as their mating dance is like a ballet. They are also a symbol of loyalty and unwavering love as they mate for life.

Cranes are smart, beautiful, strong and graceful. All of these combined make it a very powerful and elegant tattoo subject. The Red Crowned Crane is also the inspiration for the name and mascot of my tattoo studio.
